It is just nice to walk out the front door and remember that you are not in the USA

I promised some more photos taken as I walked around town, so here they are: UPDATE! I just learnd that they are called chombas. They are used to make chicha. “But chicha, which is credited with a long list of healthy effects that almost touch the miraculous, remains an indispensable part of the menu and…

A Year of Nomadic Foods

Posted on 09/06/2019 by margrad80

After I sold my place in Honolulu, I was able to stay at a friends place until it was time for me to fly out. I really had no idea of when or even if I would be returning. I have to say, that during that time I ran around eating all my favorite Hawaiian…

An Unscheduled Vacation From Blogging

Posted on 05/23/201905/22/2019 by margrad80

It all started with the rain. It has been a long time since I have lived anywhere, where the rain can continue day after day. I am used to an occasional day of rain, or even more often just a morning or afternoon of rain. So I really didn’t think to check the ten day…

Warsaw: May Day

Posted on 05/05/201905/05/2019 by margrad80

1st of May, is International Workers Day, so it is a major holiday here. It is closely followed by 3rd May – which is Constitution Day. That makes for one long weekend. I have heard that a lot of people head out of town for the week, but I decided to walk downtown anyway, to…

March 7, 2019: Visiting the Museo Ex Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera

Posted on 03/08/201906/11/2019 by margrad80

Moments before Rosa was to arrive, I got out my laptop and googled museums near me. I scrolled down the list until I found one I had not been to yet. I selected Museo Ex Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera. At 2.2 miles from the apartment, it was a good destination for the day. On…

February 27, 2019: Street food, and artwork

I didn’t sleep very well last night, I really don’t know why. When I got up this morning I had a message from the apartment owner asking if Rosa could come a day early. My first reaction was to say that I wasn’t feeling well, and really didn’t want go out. Then I remembered that…

February 21, 2019: No Momias for Me

Posted on 02/28/201906/11/2019 by margrad80

My neighbors upstairs had told me about a cemetery they recommend my visiting. Since it was my day to make myself scarce and let Rosa do her magic, I figured that today was the day to go. It would make a nice long walk from my apartment and back. Since there was plenty of food…

February 19, 2019: Seeking Sancho Panza

Okay, so that title is a little over blown, but sometimes it is hard to come up with good titles. Today I just needed to get out of the house. I finished my year-end paperwork (both my private and business paperwork) and loaded it up to the cloud. I didn’t need to leave for Rosa….

February 13, 2019: Thank goodness for Rosa.

Just like when I lived in Honolulu, I have a bad habit of being a hermit. In both cities there is a lot to do outside my front door. My ex-home in Honolulu and my rented apartment here both are so comfortable that I am truly disinclined to go outside. I am forced to head…

My Inconvenient Live

I am a retired American Merchant Mariner.  l was living a nomadic lifestyle somewhere between being a nomad and an expat, before Covid19. I moved from country to country as my visas ran out. This blog covered my travels and the random thoughts about life, technology, travel, and the Oxford comma. Now I am stuck waiting for the pandemic to pass. During this time my posts will have very little to do with traveling, and more to do with keeping myself entertained during lockdown.
