Learning to Manage a Website, One Mistake at a Time

Posted on 10/17/201803/17/2019 by margrad80

My friends and followers might have noticed that my website has been changing frequently lately. Since changing from SquareSpace to WordPress, I have been going through a steep learning curve. In the next few days you will see my photo galleries being posted as normal blog posts. I initially posted the photos as site pages,…

Eating the Streets

Posted on 10/14/201806/11/2019 by margrad80

I have been reading  Layla Pujol’s blog lately. She is an Ecuadorian nomad who loves to cook and travel. She currently lives in Seattle, Washington, USA. I find it entertaining that as an Ecuadorian nomad she is such a great resource for me, being and American nomad in Ecuador. Her insights are much more on…

Paring down my gear: Part one

Posted on 10/13/201808/13/2019 by margrad80

Before leaving Hawaii to become a homeless nomad, I spent months going over packing lists on numerous websites. I thought that I had come up with the perfect packing list for myself, which would be flexible enough for traveling through many countries. Of course, I was way too optimistic. This is the first in a…

Musical Cuenca

Posted on 10/12/201806/11/2019 by margrad80

Though I am still trying to catch up on my travel packing blogging, I had to take a break today and write about my new temporary home. On my first day in Cuenca, I was surprised to hear music coming from the street. It would come and go, so I knew it was coming from…

An Ode to Southwest Airlines: Better late than never.

I am still trying to catch up editing and posting the posts I wrote while I was traveling from Honolulu to Cuenca. I am promising myself that I will not let myself get in this position again. Well, we will see how that works out. After a week in Petaluma, I was off again. This…

What Would Google Do? Revisited

Posted on 10/03/201803/17/2019 by margrad80

Disclaimer: It has been years since I took a critical writing class in J-school.  Forgive my professors, I alone decided to not bother with all the things they taught me and just write in the same style that I write my blog in. If you disagree with my thoughts, feel free to write your own…

Packing List: Coffee, a Deep Dark Dive

Posted on 10/01/201808/13/2019 by margrad80

A warning to family and friends, this post is a deep dive into packing for minimalist traveling. You might find it rather dry. If you are still interested and have not read Finding the right bag for Travel, and The Evolution of a Packing List, you might want to click these links and read them first. Disclaimer:…

My Inconvenient Live

I am a retired American Merchant Mariner.  l was living a nomadic lifestyle somewhere between being a nomad and an expat, before Covid19. I moved from country to country as my visas ran out. This blog covered my travels and the random thoughts about life, technology, travel, and the Oxford comma. Now I am stuck waiting for the pandemic to pass. During this time my posts will have very little to do with traveling, and more to do with keeping myself entertained during lockdown.
