SDV: A Blogger Escapes the Real World, Part 14

Posted on 10/01/202009/23/2020 by margrad80

Spoiler alert!
I am not even going to try to avoid spoilers. So be forewarned.

This walkthrough is for the iPad version of the game which has quite a few differences from the desktop version.

Stardew Valley is very flexible, so as you play the game your experiences will not be the same as mine. Once I am past the game basics, I will not be going step by step, but only recapping the action.

If you are looking just to get a particular question about the game answered. You can find just about every thing you need to know in the Wiki.

With a little extra luck, I guess it is a good day to go fishing.
That is interesting that I saw the iridium rod in Willy’s shop the day before I got this letter from him. I guess that seals the deal. It is time to go fishing.
When I went to water my garden, I found that the wheat was ready to harvest.

Once I had harvested my crops, I realized that I needed to get some seeds from the general store. I checked the Community Center bundle and saw what crops I needed. When Ot to the store, a cut scene was triggered.

This was the second time I saw Morris at the General Store. I had been putting off going over to the Joja Mart to meet him. He was the last of the villagers I needed to meet. He doesn’t go to festivals. The game gave me credit for meeting him after the cut scene repeated.
I need to grab that shell before Elliot comes out of his hut and kicks it, destroying it. In another life I wasn’t fast enough.
Remember when I chose to sometimes have double foraging? That is what happened here. I picked up to rainbow shells and they showed up as four in my inventory.

Even with a lot of fishing and foraging the beach, I didn’t have enough gilder to buy the iridium rod. Heading back into town I triggered the cut scene with George.

I made the mistake of taking a challenge of fishing for sardines, only to find out that they were out of season.

When I woke up in the morning, I saw that my upgraded ax was ready, and that my coop was finished. Finishing the coup fulfilled one of the Journal challenges. My reward was 100g.

Since my silo is full, the hay hopper in the coup shows as full.
I can draw all the hay out of the silo through the hopper, and stow it in a chest, saving me the trouble of building more silos. With the silo empty I can go out and cut more grass. I can keep repeating this sequence.
When I did at a wiggly worm spot and find a lost book, the book doesn’t go into my backpack. I have found a bunch of them, but after they warp to the library, the notice disappears fast. This was the first time I was able to catch the notice with a screenshot.
Once I picked up my improved ax, I had to go over to the mine and retrieve my sword.

The reason I accelerated the improvements to the ax over the improvements to the other tools is because I wanted to remove a particular log. This log is located at the upper left hand corner of the forest south of the farm. It has to be removed so that your avatar can enter the secret forest.

Just over the head of my avatar, you can see that I am being approached by a slime monster. That is why I needed to go get my sword. there are six large stumps un the secret woods. Unlike the stumps on the farm, these stumps regenerate every night, for a constant flow of hardwood.
It is hard to see against the green grass, but there is a fiddlehead fern in front of my avatar. These can only be found in the secret forest, and only in Summer.
Clicking on the statue, opens a cryptic dialogue.

After killing all the slime monsters, gathering all the fiddlehead ferns, and chopping all the large stumps, I headed back to the pond to do a little fishing.

I caught a woodskip, which is needed for one of the bundles at the Community Center

The first order of business on the 7th day of summer was to watch the Queen of Sauce and add another recipe to my file. Then I headed out to do my chores.

I decided that after the seeds a bought from the general store were harvested, i would switch over to wild seeds, which can be crafted from foraged items.
The center of my farm after I had thinned out the trees and cut back the grass. You don’t want to cut out all the grass because you want it to keep gowning to be harvested for hay. All the logs and stumps are gone, but I will have to upgrade my pickax again before being able to removed the large boulders.
The storage chest has lots more room for hay.
Since I had cut the trees back, I figured it was time to tend to grandpa’s shrine
As you can see, his note to me puts me off for a while.

The next few days were pretty uneventful, foraging, and running around in the mine. I did craft three tree taps, so that I can harvest maple syrup, pine tar, and oak resin, all of which are used in crafting.

I always try to put a torch next to each tree with a tap, to make it easier to find them at night.
I will have to remember to craft some lighening rods.
I missed making it to the Luau. It happened on a very lucky day and I was in the mine.

Marnie, who lives south of my farm is the one you buy animals from. By the time I remembered that I needed to buy animals it was her day off. She takes two days off in a row, so I was hard pressed to remember to do it. Finally I wen to her farm and bought four chickens, two brown and two white.

While I was fishing I caught a treasure chest with another Dinosaur egg. Since I was already saving one to hatch, I gave that one museums. I recieved a huge plush bear to decorate my home with. It went into the storage box with all the paintings and statues I have no need for right now.

Slowly things are filling up.
After going to the museum I checked up on my new chicks. One of the brown ones blends into the hay.
One morning I got up to find Dimitri, Robin’s husband on the front steps. Remember that gave you found on your farm. This cut screen will take care of that.
On this level you can see in the lower right hand corner of the cave a new monster. The dust sprites are easy to bypass and forget, but you need to kill them all because the reward is good one.
Here I am being approached by a ghost. They drop some really good things when you kill them.
During to this visit to the mine, I found a cluster of barrels and crates,t hat gave me a lot of good stuff, but the most important was a large glow ring. In the above panel, you can see that my avatar is already wearing the ring.
I really didn’t want the slingshot, but made room in the inventory to pick it up, just in case I figure out a use fro it later.
I had so much stuff at the end of a day of mining, that I had to leave some things at the mine when I went home.
My avatar basking in the glow of my new ring. I will have to go back to level 31, now that I can see.
I did get enough farming in to level up again, during the low activity days.

My Inconvenient Live

I am a retired American Merchant Mariner.  l was living a nomadic lifestyle somewhere between being a nomad and an expat, before Covid19. I moved from country to country as my visas ran out. This blog covered my travels and the random thoughts about life, technology, travel, and the Oxford comma. Now I am stuck waiting for the pandemic to pass. During this time my posts will have very little to do with traveling, and more to do with keeping myself entertained during lockdown.
