SDV: A Blogger Escapes the Real World, Part Twelve

Posted on 09/29/202009/22/2020 by margrad80

Spoiler alert!
I am not even going to try to avoid spoilers. So be forewarned.

This walkthrough is for the iPad version of the game which has quite a few differences from the desktop version.

Stardew Valley is very flexible, so as you play the game your experiences will not be the same as mine. Once I am past the game basics, I will not be going step by step, but only recapping the action.

If you are looking just to get a particular question about the game answered. You can find just about every thing you need to know in the Wiki.

Waking up on the 25th day of spring I see that my ax is ready, but it is a lucky day, so I decide to put off picking up the ax, and headed right to the mine, after doing my farm chores.

Working down from level 40 to 50, I received a pair of tundra boots, which are even better for fighting in than my leather ones, giving me +2 defense and +1 immunity. I changed boots, and intending to sell the old ones at the guild.

Sometimes, I play pretty fast, so I am not sure how I got the new sword, but it was better than the old one. The steel smallsword was +2 speed, but the Forest Sword is +2 Speed and +1 Defense. I will sell the old one to the guild along with the boots. The medium sized bomb was monster drop.
With a little luck, I could go into the mine or I could go fishing.
I decided to go pick up my ax and get the omni geodes processed.
After making my donation to the museum, I received another painting. I really don’t have any use for paintings right now. There isn’t enough wall space in my small cabin.
Back at Clint’s I decided to upgrade my trashcan so that I can recoup a little value from things I have to toss, when my backpack is full.
Back home, I remember to craft my recycling machine.

You might have wondered why I took the trouble to take all the trash I fished up back to the farm. With the recycling machine, I can convert the trash into stone, coal, iron ore, wood, torches, cloth, and refined quartz.

After placing a broken CD in the machine I get a bar of refined quartz.
My new ax removes the big stumps but still isn’t strong enough to break up the log. The stumps yield hardwood, but on this farm they never regrow.

I spent the rest of the day breaking up stumps on the farm, until my energy ran out and I went to bed. The next day I was still trying to decide if I should build another silo or save up to build a chicken coop. I had the raw materials for the coop in my backpack. On seeing that it was a lucky day, I decided to put off the choice and head to the mine. I worked my way down to level 60 where I received another weapon that I really don’t like to use.

I just noticed that I did the screen shot before the message was completely formed. Looking back I see that I have done that several time before.
I will have to come back to this level to do some fishing.

The next day, after picking up my new trashcan I went fishing. Soon I found myself in a jam and had to use it. Below, you can see that five Green Algae will let me pocket 11 gilder, but it would be better if I would just quit letting this happen. I don’t toss the trash, because it would bring no guider at this point but can be processed back at the farm.

With the training rod I could only catch base level fish. With the fiberglass pole I am already catching purple (iridium) star fish. The draw back of this is that it you can fill up your backpack very fast with fishes of each type of star, rather than just a pile of no-star fish.
You can see why I need to have another silo. If my silo is full and I cut grass, I get no hay. If I have room in my silo each swing of the scythe gets hay, which I can feed to my future animals.

It is now the last day of the season, and I have finally decided that I will build a chicken coop first. All I need to do is save up the gilder. Later in the game, the last day of a season will be busy for me, but not in this first year. I head over to the Community Center with some things for the challenges.

My prize this time is some fertilizer.
Finishing that bundle revealed a golden tablet in the boiler room.

My Inconvenient Live

I am a retired American Merchant Mariner.  l was living a nomadic lifestyle somewhere between being a nomad and an expat, before Covid19. I moved from country to country as my visas ran out. This blog covered my travels and the random thoughts about life, technology, travel, and the Oxford comma. Now I am stuck waiting for the pandemic to pass. During this time my posts will have very little to do with traveling, and more to do with keeping myself entertained during lockdown.
