It was sort of strange, but as the day of my departure came closer, I found that I was more nervous to leave Cuenca than I had been to come there. I was very distracted did not want to leave.I was too restless to work on my blog or my novel, so I spent most of my last few days in Ecuador, when it wasn’t raining, walking around town, stopping to talk to expats, and taking photos.
I was perplexed by the structure going up in plaza going up near the coffee shop.
It seems that someone thought they were in ParisThe Puente Roto as seen from the other side of the river. On the other side of the Tomebamba river the path was parklike. One the side I was standing on, the path is a generous sidewalk. For days I had been watching the workment setting up the Christmas lights across the river. At first, only a few fishes were lit up.On this day, I made a point of going out late to see if more of the lights were on.The wide sidewalk across the river from the park. Until the lights were turned on, I didn’t realize that the squiggles were supposed to be waves of water.
The river had become quite high with the rains that had kept me in side so much in the last few weeks I was in cuenca.
Heading home, I got a great view of the sunset from the top of the stairs near my place.
