Fun With Black Friday (Week)

Posted on 11/24/201812/22/2018 by margrad80

One fun thing about living overseas is that I just can’t open the Amazon app and have whatever I like delivered in two days or less.  Fun you say? Yes, as the days go by, I add things to my wish list on Amazon. As the time approaches for me to return to the US…

Thanksgiving in Cuenca; or why I am glad I am not him.

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com A word of warning: Most the photos in this post are stock photos. When I was young, I read a lot of books about American and British expats. It gave me an image of what an expat should be like. Though, as I traveled I found that many of…

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com I finally broke down, put my writing to one side, and focused on catching up with my bookkeeping. Normally I update my books every month. I keep up my bank accounts and bills every few days, but getting everything in to QuickBooks for my CPA is a lot more…

Cuenca: November 10, 2018

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com On November 10th, I once again found myself taken away from my writing, by the sound of music in the street. I wasn’t dressed to go out into the street, so I sat in my window and took videos. The giant puppets were sort of spooky, especially with how…

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com With the excitement of the holidays past. I had a few days where I manly hung around my condo, only venturing out when I needed to go shopping. On one of my trips out, returning from the Supermaxi. I snapped a photo of the pink hotel, to show it…

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com Brace yourself! My shortest post to date! Not much happened on the 4th and 5th of November. There was a lot of rain. I did get out for a walk, and made my 1000 day of meeting my move goal on my Apple Watch. I celebrated with eating some…

Independence Day: November 3, 2018

Posted on 11/09/201806/11/2019 by margrad80

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com I was planning on going out to check out the Independence Day celebrations, but found myself messing around with my computer instead. Noting the time, I decided that as soon as I got hungry for lunch I would go out looking for street food. It wasn’t quite lunch time…

Día de los Difuntos: November 2, 2018

Posted on 11/09/201806/11/2019 by margrad80

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com In Cuenca some people celebrate Halloween, but most everyone celebrates Día de los Difuntos. (Check out my favorite Ecuadorian Blogger’s recipes for Día De Los Difuntos.) Since the holiday falls the day before Ecuadorian Independence day, the celebrations sort of blended together. I waited until afternoon to head out…

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com Across the street from my condo is a very tiny restaurant. It is about seven feet wide and reaches back about 20 feet. The inside is a row of tables reaching to the back wall. I think there might be a kitchen in the back somewhere, but right at…

A matter of keyboards: the nomad’s dilemma

Posted on 11/05/201808/13/2019 by margrad80

Follow An Inconvenient Life on WordPress.com The Early Days: My first exposure to keyboards, outside of typewriters was the card punch machine we used at the academy to punch the cards for the Wang Programmable calculator. Since I could only hunt and peck at that time, the quality of the keyboard really didn’t matter to me….

My Inconvenient Live

I am a retired American Merchant Mariner.  l was living a nomadic lifestyle somewhere between being a nomad and an expat, before Covid19. I moved from country to country as my visas ran out. This blog covered my travels and the random thoughts about life, technology, travel, and the Oxford comma. Now I am stuck waiting for the pandemic to pass. During this time my posts will have very little to do with traveling, and more to do with keeping myself entertained during lockdown.
